Mnemosyne was the goddes of memory occurring to ancient Greek myths .
She gave birth to the nine muses of art.
Where does an idea come from, where does the inspiration come from?
Mnemosyne:
without remembering, you can't create at all. You can not be innovative.
When I was working on Mnemosyne Phrases I tried to understand the source of inspiration and creativity.
I also tried to answer to this question: Is this music purely me?
Answer: I don't know... but I know that I should always ask myself that question.
In Mnemosyne Phrases I am quite aware of the source of inspiration: a well known four movememt structure. In particular the four movement piece "Partita" by Wilfred Heaton. I even quote from master Heaton, although it is quite hard to hear. It just happens in a few short passages.
The quoting is more like a coded message to acknowlegde the fact that I really admire Heaton's music.
